Congratulations to Our 2019 Graduates!!

Around this time of year 10 years ago, Scott and I went to the Philippines. During our trip we met with my grandma's cousin who, 40 years earlier, started an income generating cooperative for families living in extreme poverty. We set up some ultimate frisbee clinics with the youth and got to know the families. I was intrigued and inspired by their enthusiasm for life and eagerness to achieve despite some of the most challenging living conditions you can imagine. With the support of extended family and friends we began a scholarship program. We started with 10 kids who were some of the most extremely poor but also the most willing to take the steps to be part of the program. Now, 3 of these little kids, 12 years old at the time, have graduated from university with degrees in marine, civil, and industrial engineering. I can't believe how much they have grown and changed and how much they have achieved despite all odds. I couldn't be more proud!
